Tell us about a particularly challenging/exciting project or engagement you have been due to your relationship with PDS.
I had an exciting/challenging engagement with my current client, a waste management services company. We implemented a new tool where [customers] could select Holidays under certain Service areas or Divisions, along with their respective Line of Business, and make edits to the schedule for pickups. Customers (Residential, Commercial, and Industrial) can now go to Republic.com and enter their address to retrieve a PDF of their most up-to-date Holiday schedules and pickup routes.
How has working with/through PDS contributed to your professional growth?:
My time with PDS has been transformative. [I’ve been able to] enhance my technical knowledge, leadership, and teamwork skills while inspiring creativity and adaptability. Through collaborative projects and a culture of innovation, I’ve gained the flexibility to thrive in diverse environments and the confidence to take on new responsibilities. PDS’ commitment to professional development and mentorship has been invaluable, equipping me with a well-rounded skill set and empowering me to drive impactful results, shaping me into a more capable and resilient professional.
Can you share a specific moment or achievement that you’re particularly proud of in your career?:
A standout moment in my career was when I volunteered to take on a challenging project that required learning new technical skills quickly. I immersed myself in training, collaborated closely with colleagues, and successfully delivered the project. It was a defining moment that reinforced my adaptability and willingness to take on new challenges; these are attributes I continue to bring to my work.
How do you stay updated on industry trends and continuously enhance your skills? Any favorite learning resources or strategies?:
To continuously enhance my skills, I enroll in online courses and pursue relevant certifications that align with my career goals. Platforms like LinkedIn Learning and or my company’s own internal knowledge share site offer a wealth of resources, allowing me to dive deeper into specific topics and expand my expertise. I find that structured learning helps reinforce my understanding and application of new concepts. Additionally, I actively seek feedback from my supervisors and colleagues to identify areas for improvement. This helps me reflect and align with industry standards and enhances my professional growth.
What advice would you give to fellow professionals who aspire to achieve similar success?
The professional landscape is constantly evolving, so it’s essential to stay adaptable. We should always embrace change as a natural part of growth and be willing to pivot when necessary. Staying flexible to allow new opportunities to come your way and remain relevant in your field.
In your opinion, what qualities make a candidate a good fit for PDS?
In my opinion, several key qualities make a candidate a good fit for PDS:
- First and foremost, Candidates should have a strong foundation in their field, complemented by a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
- Problem-solving skills are crucial. A candidate who can think critically and approach problems with creativity will thrive in this environment.
- Collaboration and communication skills are vital, given the cross-functional nature of many projects at PDS. Candidates should be able to work effectively in teams and able to articulate their ideas clearly while also valuing the input of others.

What role do you believe mentorship and networking play in career development, and have they been instrumental in your journey?
I believe mentorship offers guidance, allowing individuals to learn from experienced professionals who can share valuable insights and advice. Networking complements this by expanding one’s professional connections, which can open doors for collaborations, referrals, and even job offers. Many professionals find that their most significant career advancements stem from relationships cultivated through networking.
At a point in my career, I was assigned a mentor who specialized in project management. They shared best practices and guidance that helped me manage my time effectively and communicate with my team more clearly. Due to that, I completed the project successfully and developed a new skill set that allowed me to take on more significant responsibilities in future projects. This experience highlighted how mentorship can facilitate skill development and career progression.
